With playful nonchalance, Helen Feifel combines references to Performance and Body Art, abstract painting, photography, and sculpture. Her work is characterized by process related and extremely time-consuming transitions as well as the utilization of forgotten production techniques. Her motifs and materials combine high and popular culture, thus shifting the scale of "cultural values." The new series of painted photographs is an "amalgam" of performative staging, object photography and abstract painting. While earlier groups of work operated with complexly produced paper cladding based on the cultural history of Japan, the current works are based on the history of avant-garde textile designs of the last century.

Helen Feifel (DE 1983) attracted early attention with her works at international exhibition venues. In 2014 she presented her solo show at the Museum Mönchehaus Goslar Germany, in 2015 at the Kunstverein Braunschweig and in 2016 at the Langen Foundation. In 2018 she exhibited works at the exhibition "Germany is not an island. The Art Collection of the Federal Republic of Germany", Kunsthalle Bonn, Museum of Backnang and Kunstverein Recklinghausen dedicated a solo exhibiton to her as well. In 2019 she showed an extensive body of work at Sprengel Museum Hannover in the exhibition "In the Picture: Overpainted Photography". Helen Feifel was awarded with the Lingener Art Prize 2020, the accompanying solo exhibition "something else shapes" was on view at Kunsthalle Lingen in 2021. In 2023 her solo exhibition "the body and its powers" was presented at Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe.
